Error donwloading listings

Post by pschweig » Mon Mar 06, 2006 8:34 pm

Hi

I have 2 installs of your grabber both 3.02.01W to give me 2 different line up for use in sagetv.

On both I have started to see the error:
Error donwloading listings: Cannot start string search from 0

(not a typo - not by me anyway  )

This happens on bbc4 for one and bbc news24 for the other. When I remove the problem channel from the line up the listings work without error. When I put the channel back in - the same problem again.

Any ideas what might have caused this?

thanks
paul

i cant recreate this and cant see any obvious problems in the code either. by the way you shouldnt need 2 different installations, you can use the /c command line parameter instead

it might be helpful if you email me the settings directory from one of your installs so i can take a look

will do - how can i find your email address?

It's not visible on your profile and I can't attach the files using the "email me" facility on the web site

I cleared the cache on both installs. I can now download all my channels.

Many thanks for your quick responses.

if there are common channels between your two configurations then i would really recommend using a single installation as the program will use the cache so that you dont have to download channels twice and therefore your downloads will be faster and it will be easier to keep your install up to date as well

I might have a go at single install setup - just to save the poor RT website which must get hammered.

How does the cache work? If listings have been downloaded for a particular channel for a particular day and the listings for that channel change for that day - does the cache know to redownload the listings?

no, but the listings are only ever generated once a day anyway
