v3.02.00W taking over an hour

Post by SFX Group » Tue Jan 24, 2006 12:01 pm

Ive had this running for over 1.5 hours now. It downloaded everything from RT, took about 3 mins and showed 100%, now its sorting them, its been doing that for almost 1.5 hours.

P4 512k cache, 0.5 Gb RAM on Supermicro board. Its locked so no GUI activity for the window.

its using 99% CPU, what on earth is this doing, my Excel sheets dont take this long on a P3 SLOT1 500Mhz and theres way more data in those.???

Many Thanks

something is definately wrong there, the sorting isnt massively fast due to the data structures used but it should still take less than a minute even with all the channels selected. which order are you using?

Applicaiton terminated.

Restarted....

Sort order is Channel, start, stop.

I have changed the output file to now "channeldata.xml" have turned on logging, closed (to save) then reopened, it is now running the listings again.

56 seconds to download all data and now sorting again.. Will keep you posted.
Many Thanks

Ok, is this bad??? (the freezing is i know), i thought i would like to have a nice neat file. That order is the one listed by defualt (sort of assumed that would be the best one to have).

Suggestions??

Ive just removed the BLEB in GBPVR, Girlfriend has stuff to video tonight, can i use this with no sort until you resolve the problem or will it screw GBPVR system??
Many Thanks

gbpvr doesnt need the xml to be sorted so you can just disable the option for now

i remember now, the programs are already in the order channel, start, stop as that is the order in which they are downloaded. the sorting algorithm and the way i have implemented it is really slow if the list is already sorted or almost sorted. also due to changes from the v2 to v3 code the process is even slower, i will try to work on this but its not a big priority for me at the moment

I found another bug, the scroll info box (where the log shows while its working) seem to be at the base of the window instead of above the status bar (so cant use the scroll down button as cant see it).

I am using 640x480 so its small, uses scroll all the time on all windows.

i do try to keep the windows as small as possible but i dont think i can really make it any smaller without mkaing it harder to use for everyone else.
