Gigiguide data not valid

Post by Stu8080 » Sun Nov 23, 2008 4:47 pm

Hi Alan

Been using this software for a long time and im most grateful for it. Recently i changed over to use the Digiguide feed, making use of the more complete channel lists.

However i had no problems at first, but after a week i find the xml file it creates is not recognised by XMLTV viewer - giving " XML does not appear to be a Radio Times XMLTV file" and is not recognised by GBPVR.

Ive read a few other posts ans im sure you want me to narrow down the problem - but its hard to know where to start! Can you suggest a few things to narrow down the problem, and any supporting info you need to see where the issue is?

Any ideas appreciated

Stu

if you load the file in internet explorer / firefox then it should tell you about any xml errors. also check that there arent any duplicate channel ids or channels with no ids

Excellent, cheers.

Got the following error:
XML Parsing Error: undefined entity
Location: file:///C:/Program%20Files/XMLTV%20GUI/data.xml
Line Number 364517, Column 76: <desc>Keen to retire, a couple decides to auction their Isle of Wight B&B; plus a look at the dilapidated Dorset barn now worth close to £1 million.</desc>
---------------------------------------------------------------------------^

When i search this line in Dreamweaver it only shows up to 44000 so i cant see what channel this error occurs in. Hope this helps though, anything else i should look for?

try experimenting with your output encoding. utf-8 should work
